Giovedì 27 ottobre 2011 si é celebrato il funerale di Marco Simoncelli, il giovane pilota della Moto GP scomparso per incidente di gara domenica 23 ottobre 2011 a Sepang.
Si tratta dei primi funerali trasmessi in diretta tv non trattandosi di vittime di attentati, capi di stato, reali o di presentatori. Ma Simoncelli, lo hanno dimostrato i dati dei programmi che hanno parlato della sua tragica scomparsa, ha lasciato un vuoto negli sportivi che seguono il Motomondiale ma anche in coloro che pur non essendo appassionati delle due ruote, apprezzavano la giovialità e voglia di vivere di questo ragazzone romagnolo.
Le telecamere di Sport Mediaset hanno seguito in diretta da Coriano il funerale dell'asso della MotoGP. La rete, che dal 2002 trasmette in esclusiva l'evento del Motomondiale, apre i suoi microfoni a tutti i tifosi, ai rivali di sempre, agli amici intimi e alla famiglia del "Sic", per rendere partecipi all'ultimo saluto tutti gli appassionati e i fan, che hanno seguito da sempre la carriera del giovane campione.
Alle esequie, presenti tra gli altri il ‘fratello’ di sempre Valentino Rossi, Marco Melandri e altri piloti, giornalisti e dirigenti.
Il funerale di Marco Simoncelli trasmesso in diretta da Italia 1 dalle 14:30 con il commento dei due ‘mentori’ del Motomondiale, Guido Meda e Alberto Porta.

Thursday, October 27, 2011 we celebrated the funeral of Marco Simoncelli, the young pilot of Moto GP disappeared for race incident on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Sepang.
This is the first funeral broadcast live on italian television not inherent to victims of attacks, heads of state, real or TV presenters. But Simoncelli has left a void in the fans that follow the World Championship but also in those who, although not motorcycle enthusiasts, have appreciated the joviality and desire to live this italian boy.
The cameras have followed live in Coriano the funeral of ace of MotoGP opened its microphones to all the fans, the rivals, close friends and family of "Sic" bringing a last greeting all the fans and the fans who have always followed the career of the young champion.
