New York. De zon begint te schijnen en alles ziet er goed uit. Iedereen gaat zijn gang. De een naar zijn werk, de ander naar school. Men gaat lopend, met de auto of met de metro. Dit is een dag als iedere andere dag totdat..... Het begint met kleine waarschuwingen, maar het eindigt met een grote puinhoop. New York is getroffen door een aardbeving! Er zijn veel doden en nog meer gewonden. Hele gebouwen zijn van de kaart geveegd en men moet alles in het werk stellen om de boel op orde te krijgen. Rampenplannen moeten gaan werken, wegen begaanbaar gemaakt worden, moedige handelingen moeten verricht worden en tranen worden vergoten om het verlies van een dierbare. Ieder doet dit op zijn eigen manier, met of zonder hulp van anderen.

This is a day like every other day until ..... It starts with little warning, but it ends with a big mess. New York is hit by an earthquake! There are many dead and injured many more. Whole buildings were wiped out and we must make every effort to get everything in order. Contingency plans have to work, passable roads made, courageous actions must be performed and tears are shed for the loss of a loved one. Each does this in his own way, with or without help from others.
