I WILL START SEEDING THIS AFTER 12PM UK TIME, WANNA PLAY HALO </span>[/color] [hr] <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Reported Problems 09/05/2007</span></span> <span style="font-weight: bold;">Problem 1:</span> Omega ATI Drivers don’t recognise XP version and won’t install. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Fix: </span> None as of yet, since I don’t have a ATI graphic card I can’t really find out how to fix it. Omega drivers are unofficial drivers if they don’t work then use the official ones. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Workaround: </span> Use Driver Genius Professional Edition 2007 which can be downloaded from here to back up the drivers and to create a new exe installer. This could work. Only one person has told me of this problem so I don’t know if it is just a small hiccup on their computer or with Win XP Rev. Properly a problem with the Installer for the Omega Drivers. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Problem 2:</span> Can't setup a network between computers. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Solution:</span> Networking on this version of windows works but the security is high, this version of windows XP WILL NOT go looking for networks. What you have to do is make sure all computers on the network have the same network name and a different computer name, for example if I wanted to share my hard drive D: (rtpcdrive) on my computer (rtpccomputer) with my sisters computer (sisterscomputer) i would type the following on my sisters computer: \\rtpccomputer\rtpcdrive Remember the default network name on my version of XP is homenetwork01, you can either change this or rename the network name on your other computers. to share a printer it is the same thing \\rtpccomputer\printersharename Don’t use the Wizard do it manually by clicking on My Computer and then Tools and Map network, this is the way I do it. Since I don’t have a network setup in my home you will need to enable services that I have disabled for example Windows Time. [#]Be fun to use [#]Have the majority of programs installed by default.[/list] I started creating this version of windows as I was sick and tired of reinstalling windows, then updating windows, then installing my programs, then configuring windows, then configuring my programs etc. It used to take me hours and it bored me to tears. I’m also the local tech guy for all my friends and family, I love computers and I love tinkering with Software/hardware but not that much. So I created these versions of windows and also repacked a lot of software into silent installers with preferences that I like and use. This saved me a huge amount of time, sweat and tears. I can now install my version of windows in under an hour with all my programs that I use (apart from Limewire pro and java) which makes life easier. Because I put a lot of work into this I wanted to share it, the previous versions I released were just testing the water to see what would happen and how the people would react. I have now fixed many of the bugs and patched a few things here and there to make this version of windows better than ever. Hope you enjoy. <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Install tips</span></span> Windows Xp Revolution and Windows Xp Revolution MCE 2005 install basically the same apart from MCE 2005 not really being supported by NLITE which is one program i use to create these disks. Other problems with MCE is that it won’t listen to the WINNT.SIF file which is responsible for telling windows apart from other things which theme to use, so by default MCE will always revert to its default theme when installing, you will have to change this theme to one of the Revolution themes to access my wallpapers, icons etc. The final thing MMC does is to install certain patches in order, for example to install WMP11 you have to install all the MCE specific updates before you install WMP11, that is the reason WMP11 isnt installed by default unlike the other editions, it is also the reason IE7 isnt installed, I tend to let windowsupdate.com handle that side instead of ripping my hair trying to get a working MCE disk. When the installer has finished installing the Packs (Digital Media Studio, Spyware Warriors etc) it will initiate a restart. It will take 85 seconds for Windows to be restarted, please let it do it by its self as Windows Xp Revolution /Windows Xp Revolution MCE 2005 is still doing a bit of tidying up. If you are Installing MCE 2005 edition then you will need to activate the OS, do this clicking on the Windows Xp Revolution icon on the desktop and follow the instructions. Once it has been rebooted you will be presented with the logon in screen, two things you will notice is that there isn’t any users and that the logon screen is white. The logon screen is white because the screen resolution is 640x480, change it to 800x600 and install your graphics card drivers. To login you will need to hold CTRL +ALT and then press the delete key twice. Now enter the following information: <span style="font-weight: bold;">USERNAME: Administrator PASSWORD: qwerty1</span> Once you have logged in double click the Windows Xp Revolution icon on your desktop and follow the instructions. Also change the password for the Administrator account. <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Windows Xp Revolution/ Windows Xp Revolution MCE 2005</span></span> Updated to May 13, 2007 Added Java 6 update 1 to the install process, it will install silently. Added .NET v1 and V2 to the install process, they will install silently. Added Limewire Pro to the install process, it will install silently. Changed WMP11 setting from disable streaming media to enable, this makes it possible to view Streams in Firefox etc on the net. For MCE 2005 Edition i have included Sonic MPEG Encoder (lets you create DVD disks that play on your home DVD player) and Sonic AC3 Encoder. <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Windows XP Revolution Lite</span></span> This version is basically the same as the normal version, except that: It uses the classic plus theme and the theme service is disabled. It doesn’t install any of my Program Packs (apart from the Windows XP Revolution Pack). It has no drivers to speak of, so if you need drivers you better have your disks ready. It uses the classic logon screen. Since all packs have been disabled and that included Diskeeper Defrag, I have included Auslogics Disk Defrag to the install process, its small, fast and does the job. <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">UPDATED PACKS</span></span> <span style="font-weight: bold;">Windows Revolution Install Pack</span> Added the RKLauncher Dock program, this is a copycat of the OSX dock, it is located at the top of the screen and is modified so it shows programs relevant to Windows XP Revolution and MCE edition. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Spy warriors Pack</span> Definitions updated to 14.05.2007 <span style="font-weight: bold;">Digital Media Studio Pack</span> Program names have been defined for file extensions; you will now see which program is going to open a file. Added the DMS TMPGEnc Suite, this includes TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress + DVD Author 3 with DivX Authoring and TMPGEnc-2.59.47.155-Plus with KVCD profiles. dms_sus start up program is removed and replaced with launcher files for the programs that need it. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Picture Perfect</span> Updated Picassa to the latest version. New toolbar skin for IrfanView (now default) that i created called VistaCons, this can be grabed from the official website. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Mozilla Suite</span> Firefox now has the WMP11 plugin installed by default. Updated Flash plugin for firefox <span style="font-weight: bold;">System Tools and Utilities</span> Removed FileMon and RegMon and replaced them Process Monitor which does both jobs. Added Program called Process Explorer. Added FileZilla for FTP needs. Updated Notpad ++ to lasted version <span style="font-weight: bold;">Media Players</span> Renamed Media Player Classic Pack to Media Players and added Winamp, Winamp is now the default for all music files and playlists. I used the latest version of Winamp and have removed all video support and the media library along with the CD burning engine and modern themes. I feel that version 1.5 is a more complete version/s than the previous version/s and all the little annoying things are gone that i hate. Please remember that i created these Windows XP Disks to make my life easier so they are tailored to my preferences.
