Detailed Description W32/Darkgain detection was added for several files that were distributed by software pirates. The files were found by our personnel on file sharing networks and on some file download sites together with the installation packages of certain versions of F-Secure Internet Security. The files represented a keymaker, used to generate product keys, and a patcher, used to modify certain files to change a program's logic. These files were purposely created to allow illegal usage of F-Secure Internet Security product. Please note, that software piracy hurts software vendors like F-Secure. In some countries the downloading and use of cracks, keymakers and similar files is considered to be a criminal offense and can lead to a legal action. All attempts to use illegal copies of F-Secure products are logged because the product keys generated by illegal keymakers can be easily recognized by our Key Validation System. No new anti-virus database updates are provided for illegal copies of our products, so cracked versions of F-Secure anti-virus software do not offer sufficient protection against new malware threats. Besides, some of these underground files (cracks, trainers, keymakers) occasionally come with a "surprise". They may contain malicious files that, for example, would allow a remote hacker to get full access to a compromised computer. There was for example an incident where a powerful backdoor named SdBot was found inside a self-extracting archive that also contained a crack for a popular archiving software. People who used that crack also had their computers infected with a backdoor that provided hackers with full access to their systems. If you found a W32/Darkgain detection on your hard drive, please delete the file. Support software vendors. If you use the software - Buy it

lazzejonzzon, I couldn't agree more with your comment. People who risk their security to "feel" more secure is quite an oxymoron. But for educational purposes, I am sure someone could download this to show others why it is not generally great practice to do so, and how to do it without getting infected. Anyone can write code to do whatever the operating system allows software to do. If people emulated the software in a box, they wouldn't need AV software to begin with as they could simply delete the virtual file and start over easily from a previous copy. (Either that or run trusted "Linux" open-source software which many people use daily at their benefit knowing that Linux viruses is another Oxymoron. Anyways, I never used Fsecure before, and I am sure you try your best to discourage people using your software without paying for somthing that will eventually break (Time limitation software) and is not guaranteed to work 100% of the time. I often wonder how many programmers are endorsed by AV software developers like yourself to create these nifty viruses and release them on places like TPB to generate more revenue on crappy MS operating systems. The way I look at it, your in a loose loose situation. People will buy it and it will expire and they will likely go elsewhere to try a competing product, and if nothing works and they keep getting infected (Or think they are infected because they are dolts and did somthing they shouldn't have done), they get pissed off and then come to TPB to get somthing without paying for it becuase they feel the need to get even with the big corporation, or because they are too lazy to try a Non-Microsoft-Open source solution. Anyways, keep up your comments, and keep logging those IP addresses. I am certain that the lawyer fees will be heftier than your off the shelf sales, so you better start marketing your out of court settlements to your advertising area.

And- Yes, I do endorse the software developers I like. Sometime even the ones I don't like. I stand by the statement, if it saves me time, grief and gives me the ability to do something I enjoy, I'll buy it. Just so long as that money doesn't go towards something I don't endorse.

BTW, this torrent MIGHT contain a trojan, becuase it is NOT from the original package. http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3828339/F-Secure.Internet.Security.2008.v8.00.101.Incl.Patch.And.Keymake thats the original package, which i scanned the keygen with virustotal.com, and found NOTHING. but this packages keygen flags 22 of the 32 virus engines that virustotal.com uses... so use the torrent above to be safe...

This torrent is OK. It's not a virus, it is a keygenerator.
