This got banned at another site for using audio from the very dubious video release. Though I would post it here. First off, let me say this is a fan project, done for the fan himself with limited technology and I am now sharing it with the community. Please do not go in thinking I feel this is perfect. I do however feel this is the most complete version I have ever heard. Now the story of how this was pieced together. I recently purchased the new SODD release of the Stones Hyde Park 1969 show, as it was supposed to be the most complete version ever. It used 3 sources to make a complete show. The sources were audience, video, and radio show. What they did right was the radio show source was as good as I?ve ever heard, and they edited in the portion of Midnight Rambler from the video version into the radio show version to take out the portion where the ?panel? talks over the music. What they did wrong was cutting out some of the dialog between songs, making edits into song beginnings that left out brief bits of music, the song ?I?m Yours and I?m Hers,? is edited on their version, the intro to the concert they used is actually the outro of the concert and is repeated at the end of the disc. Finally the Jagger line, ?You still having a good time?? after ?Street Fighting Man? is really a radio show edit and belongs before ?Midnight Rambler.? In other words they really didn?t do what they claimed they did. I wanted to fix that, because even though this show gets a rap as being sloppy, it is really one of my favorite Stones shows. The setlist is cool, and the performance while some may label rough, sounds more raw to me. It sounds like what it is, a band playing live for the first time in a while with a new member. To piece this together I used 4 sources: *-SODD release X-Pied Piper tape of original Vinyl Boot. I have a vinyl copy, but the recording runs slow, and I could speed correct with the cassette. Plus this was used for only one song and the rest between song banter. @-My copy of the Radio Show &-Another fan compilation with more bits of the radio show than the SODD release. My method was to make individual tracks on a CDRW of the bits I needed and then burn those bits onto a cdr in the correct order burning the disc in the DAO format. While this sounds primitive, it actually makes for a nice listen when done right. Again some edits are a bit jarring as you go from audience to FM, but I don?t have a complete audience recording, so not all breaks between songs can flow smoothly, especially when you get to the second half of the show. One thing I did that others have not done in the past is I left the voiceover on the first ten seconds of ?Street Fighting Man.? This was the only way to hear the opening of the song, and while that might be a bit of a distraction, I didn?t feel it was any more of a distraction than the song starting ten seconds in. I also tried to get the beginning of Satisfaction as loud as possible, so you hear a bit of what I think is running water, for about a half of a second, that was on the video. I also put this together in one complete disc with overburn, if you don?t have overburn a good place to split discs is at ?Midnight Rambler.? I did so much work with the goal to make the most concert like version, that I didn?t want to split it up. The total disc is 81:46. I?ve listed each source used for each finished cd track. This does not mean the song itself is edited, I only spliced a couple of songs, it just means that other sources were used to complete the time between songs. I hope some fans will enjoy this. It ain?t perfect, but I like it. The Rolling Stones Hyde Park London July 5, 1969 ?Mourn Brian, Meet Mick and Murder Butterflies? above method>CDR>EAC>FLAC>Bootcity 1. intro X/* 2.
