Twee jonge soldaten verlaten controlepost 83 in het noorden van Värmland en gaan door de winterse nacht op verkenning naar de rand van het door Nazi's bezette gebied bij de grens van Noorwegen en Zweden. Het loopt echter uit op een ramp wanneer luitenant Aaron Stenström de volgende dag er achter komt dat zijn broer Sven vermist wordt. Hij wordt nu gedwongen om een uiterst geheime reddingsoperatie op te zetten achter de vijandelijke linies.
