Description
A peça foi escrita, primeiramente, para balé, mas é apresentada, atualmente, como concerto. De muito simples estrutura, compõem-se de apenas uma melodia e de um tema paralelo, que é repetido muitas vezes, com diferentes orquestrações. A composição começa muito baixa, enquanto um tambor (caixa orquestral) marca o ritmo por toda a peça. A melodia é executada, alternadamente, por diferentes instrumentos (clarinete, fagote, clarinete-alto, oboé, trompeta, saxofone, trompa etc). O acompanhamento vai se tornando cada vez mais vivo e mais forte, até que toda a orquestra toca no final. No ritmo final de seis tempos, tocam tambores, címbalos, castanholas, pandeiretas e trombones, quase que caoticamente, enquanto o resto da orquestra segue no ritmo de caixa orquestral.
