It works as well as the retail version. I've heard Pirates! is unstable on some hardware configuration, but it works flawlessly for me. Even if it's unstable for you, there's a worldwide patch due any time soon now, which presubably should fix the bugs causing unstability.

I just tried completely uninstalling the game and then installing it again to see if I could reproduce this behavior. I had no problems what so ever. The installationen accepted CD2 - no problems. It's worth mentioning that I used Daemon Tools. Did you burn the game to CDs first instaed? I haven't tested that scenario, though I can't see why it shouldn't work this way. Oh.. The new patch it out by the way. You can fetch it over at firaxis.com. It does reinstate the CD check again though, but as long as you CD2 mounted with Daemon Tools (or the CD in the tray) you can still play - no problems.

Even if you have the CD Key for this game you may not be able to play the game. I got a CD key for this game at a CRACK site and it will install but then it will not allow you to play the game. The message I get is you must put in the original disk. It will not work with what it calls a back up disk. So I guess we all have to go pay the dollars for the game in order to play. If we want to play we got to pay =(*.

The game works perfectly-no problems with instability or not accepting cd2.Jus use the latest version of DT and you will have no problem

and yes.. i used the cd key axlund supplied and mounted the images in daemon tools 4. no problems whatsoever. thanks a million rax0 :D
