I have been using Adobe Audition since Adobe bought Cool Edit Pro and changed the name. I now use version 3.0 to mix it, and that's the only software I use. As far as how long it took to make it, I have no idea. I've been working on it for years now, and I haven't been keeping up with how many hours. Let's just say it was a BUNCH and leave it at that.
