Comments (59): So I found out why Directx failed to initialize for my computer anyways. It wasn't updated enough. I didn't have Windows Vista Service Pack 1 on windows and that is what was causing it. If you run windows update and click view update history and see that Service pack 1 or above is downloaded then it won't work. • I'm having the same error msg come up - "Failed to initialize DirectX!" - anyone have any suggestions?? And yes, I applied the crack app correctly. • I downloaded everything just the way I should and replaced the anno4 with the one in the cracked file and when I try to boot the game it says unable to initialize directx can anyone help me with this problem??? • FINALLY figured it out.
