Jane es reclutada por una agencia gubernamental secreta que se dedica a contener, y si es necesario, neutralizar la amenada de los "Neuros", individuos con poderes neurológicos sobrehumanos. Nadie sabe qué es lo que causa las aberraciones que han llevado a sus extraordinarias habilidades, pero sus poderes son muchos y variados, desde la telequinesis y el control mental, hasta poder causar alucinaciones. Y Jane bien podría ser una de ellas.

Durante el transcurso de su primera investigación con su nuevo equipo, Jane descubre que también posee poderes formidables. No puede morir. Los Neuros no son habitualmente maliciosos, ya que los estragos que van causando muy a menudo son como resultado de su incapacidad para controlar sus poderes. Frecuentemente, en el transcurso del uso de sus poderes, sin darse cuenta van dejando un amplio rastro de muerte y destrucción. Por ello, el gobierno ha mantenido en secreto el descubrimiento de los Neuros, formando una unidad secreta compuesta por miembros de las diferentes agencias de la ley, y que tienen una única misión: identificar y contener a los Neuros.

Operando desde una segura plataforma de metro abandonada, los principales miembros de esta unidad son Andre McBride (Rob Stewart), el sensato líder del equipo; Connor King (Noah Danby, Stargate SG-1), un agente especial que suele estar armado con ingeniosos comentarios; Riley Jensen (Sean Owen Roberts), un experto en informática a cargo de las tareas de vigilancia y comunicación; el doctor Seth Carpenter (Stephen Lobo, Falcon Beach), el doctor y científico de la unidad; Joe Waterman (Nathaniel Deveaux, La clave DaVinci), el viejo conserje del metro; y Maureen Bowers (Alaina Kalanj), antigua compañera de Jane en narcóticos, que al igual que ella, es reclutada después de que se descubra información de alto secreto sobre los Neuros.
