On my iPhone I have noticed some brief, blacked out areas during movie playback at times. These blacked out parts of the screen only last for a few seconds, but I believe that they are cause by the compression that I used. Originally I set iSquint to convert the videos by optimizing them for iPod/iPhone. Then I realized that when played full screen on the computer, they were blurry. So I redid the conversions at the high quality setting. I believe the videos have blacked out sections while playing on the iPhone because of this higher setting, but they don't last long, and they aren't in every video. Other than that they are fine.
