Some Info on x264

When I first downloaded an x264 file I had problems, just clicking on

the file crashed explorer nevermind playing it.



I fixed this problem by uninstalling the k-lite codec pack. This was a

while ago and I don't remember what version it was, so you don't NEED

to uninstall any codec packs before downloading, but that should

be your first step in troubleshooting any playback problems.



Installing the Combined Community Codec Pack let me play all files I

could previously and x264 files too.



If there's a particular codec pack you prefer, rather than replacing

it, you could just look for an updated version.



If you don't use codec packs, the individual codec can be found here.

I've been using the MeGUI version without problems on another machine.



If neither of these options appeals, I have yet to hear of a video

file that VLC can't play.

I have encoded them with a very low bitrate, so that all four series

and all DVD special features can be stored on one single-sided,

single-layered DVDR.



The quality is almost indistinguishable from the DVD source when

played through my computer on my 32" widescreen CRT TV. However,

playing on my 24" widescreen LCD monitor shows some blockyness and

blurry picture.



If you're unsure if this is an acceptable quality for you, many 3rd

party Bittorrent clients allow you to download individual files, so

you can download one and decide for yourself.



All episodes are from the same source and encoded with the same codec

at the same bitrate.
