For the ones who did not find this file in "User/Preference", I first needed to launch the game a first time, close it, and then I could find the preference file. I did not folowed instructions in the right order, but it's still worked. I did like step1, step 3, and step 2. I also manage to change my "player" name, and no password needed in order to play.
