Each disc is compressed in .rar files. Using winRAR extract part 1 of each disc into a new folder named 'Witcher Data'. 2. Mount sr-twe1.iso and sr-twe2.iso using powerISO. The Witcher est assurément un grand jeu de rôle, et il a été récompensé comme tel dans nos colonnes l'an passé. Avec néanmoins un soupçon de sévérité, dû à quelques défauts énervants, notamment les temps de chargement et les personnages clonés. L'histoire aurait pu s'arrêter là, mais CD Projekt n'est décidément pas un développeur comme les autres. Le studio s'est attaché à corriger ces problèmes, et nous ressort aujourd'hui son hit dans une version revue et corrigée. Cerise sur le gâteau, cette nouvelle mouture contient deux aventure inédites et nous est servie dans un superbe packaging contenant de nombreux bonus. Idéal pour une séance de rattrapage, ou pour redécouvrir cette perle dans toute sa splendeur.

Graphismes 17/20
Il faut bien l'avouer, c'est la grande claque. Les environnements sont magnifiques, les effets de lumières sublimes. Les personnages principaux sont joliment modélisés et animés. Bref, c'est de l'excellent travail, tant artistiquement que techniquement. Prévoyez tout de même une configuration musclée pour en profiter pleinement. Quant aux PNJ clonés, ils n'ont pas complètement disparu mais sont bien moins présents que dans le jeu original.

Jouabilité 16/20
Malgré un début perturbant, le système de combat s'avère finalement bien pensé et agréable à utiliser. Même chose pour l'alchimie, très pratique. L'évolution du personnage grâce aux talents est originale et bien conçue. En gros, le gameplay fonctionne bien. Les puristes relèveront bien quelques manques, comme l'usure des objets ou le manque de sorts, mais rien de bien méchant. Le plus embêtant reste le relatif manque de liberté et le cloisonnement des aires de jeu, mais c'est moins problématique maintenant que les temps de chargement sont réduits.

Durée de vie 18/20
Avec cinq longs actes, plus de nombreuses quêtes secondaires intéressantes et deux aventures inédites, il faut compter une bonne cinquantaine d'heures de jeu pour faire un tour complet de The Witcher. La rejouabilité est bonne puisque de nombreux choix influent sur la tournure des événements.

Bande son 18/20
Le doublage français a été en partie réenregistré. Résultat, les rares intonations fausses ont disparu et on se retrouve avec des dialogues de grande qualité. Cette version contient également les voix des autres langues, de quoi satisfaire tout le monde. Le reste de l'ambiance sonore est aussi bon, avec de sublimes musiques aux accents médiévaux qui collent parfaitement à l'action. La bande originale est d'ailleurs fournie sous la forme d'un double CD. Les bruitages ne sont pas en reste et immergent immédiatement dans l'univers. Dans la rue, les enfants crient, les poules caquettent, le tonnerre gronde... Tout est incroyablement vivant. Du grand art.

Scénario 17/20
L'univers d'Andrzej Sapkowski est très plaisant à parcourir. Bien sûr, il n'échappe pas aux poncifs du genre. Ainsi, les nains y sont barbus et forgerons tandis que les elfes y sont beaux et archers. Mais il parvient aussi à dégager sa propre personnalité, plutôt sombre. Le climat de persécution des non-humains, la peste, la méfiance envers les Sorceleurs... Tout ça dégage une atmosphère réussie. L'histoire, racontée via de nombreuses cinématiques, est également très bien écrite. Cerise sur le gâteau, elle n'est pas linéaire, ce sera donc au joueur d'en écrire les détails à chaque partie.

Lorsqu'on voit le résultat obtenu par CD Projekt avec The Witcher - Enhanced Edition, on se prend à rêver que tous les développeurs suivent l'exemple. Avec cette version améliorée, le studio polonais a su tirer les leçons de son premier jet, déjà très réussi, pour nous livrer un jeu de rôle proche de la perfection. Un incontournable, tout simplement, qui fera date dans l'histoire du genre, et dont on reparlera certainement dans dix ans encore, évoquant avec émotion telle ou telle quête. C'est bien là l'empreinte des plus grands, de savoir s'installer durablement dans les mémoires. Il ne reste plus qu'à espérer que les aventures du Loup Blanc ne s'arrêtent pas en si bon chemin, et que les pas des joueurs croiseront de nouveau ceux du sorceleur.
